New
software offering further aligns IT and business units by enabling financial
management of VMware environments.
Salem,
Virginia –
September 16, 2008 - Nicus Software, Inc., a leader in IT financial management
software solutions, today announced the availability of
M-PWR Chargeback for VMware. This latest
addition to the M-PWR software suite provides a robust financial management
solution to accurately allocate the costs of VMware virtual environments and to
plan and budget those resources more effectively.
"Understanding
how services are consumed provides insights into infrastructure and business
impact, in support of both performance and financial planning. By incorporating
service accounting into the dynamic VMware infrastructure, Nicus is paving the
way for far more business-aligned adoption of virtualized environments with an
eye to cost, capacity, value, relevance and service performance," said
Dennis Drogseth, Vice President, Enterprise Management Associates.
The new
offering includes several features designed to improve usage tracking and
forecasting capabilities for organizations of any size. M-PWR Chargeback
integrates with VMware’s Virtual Center for the collection of usage and
configuration data to provide advanced reporting specific to the virtual
infrastructure. The solution also supports multiple, simultaneous billing models
such as tiered fixed price allocations, usage-based allocations or a combination
of both.
Robert
Mischianti, EVP of Product Management for Nicus, added, “All of our
customers, regardless of their size, value a single source for IT data from
resource usage to cost and budget data.” The addition of VMware data allows M-PWR
to provide that single source, making life easier for IT financial managers. M-PWR
often eliminates time-consuming, redundant measurement efforts. In the
enterprise space, M-PWR ensures a consistent view of the computing environment
across IT and business units which enhance both accuracy and transparency.”
M-PWR
Chargeback for VMware is an independent module based on the M-PWR platform first
offered in 1994. Nicus is currently developing additional modules for other
virtualization technologies as well as wide area networks and storage. Nicus
Software is a privately held corporation based in Salem, Virginia. For more
