Nicus Presents CHIP Donation Supporting Healthcare for Low-income Children and Parents ROANOKE, VA (June 3, 2019) – Nicus Software, Inc., a growing local tech company, visited CHIP (Child Health Investment Partnership) of Roanoke Valley last week to present a donation supporting the nonprofit’s mission to create a better life for young children from low-income backgrounds, as well as their parents and guardians. The CHIP of Virginia network serves thousands of children and families each year by providing access to crucial medical and developmental resources – with local programs operating in 27 communities state-wide (including the Roanoke Valley). “CHIP’s comprehensive approach to improving the health of children, families and communities, and promoting overall self-sufficiency is inspiring,” stated Nicus CEO John Clark. “We want to be a part of the change CHIP is enabling.” The medical and developmental attention a child receives before age five dictates both their long-term wellness and risk of disease. But as healthcare costs continue to rise, children living in low-income households are unfairly restricted from receiving essential care, such as vaccinations and yearly check-ups. With this donation, Nicus hopes to empower the CHIP network to continue broadening access to the difference-making healthcare resources thousands of children in our region need and deserve. “I’m proud to be part of an organization that has successfully built strong foundations for families in Roanoke and beyond for 30 years,” says Autumn Lavering, CHIP of Roanoke Valley’s Director of Development. “It’s a beautiful experience to watch these children and families grow in health and set goals that promote self-sufficiency. Because of CHIP, over 22,000 children’s lives have been changed. Because of CHIP, these children now have hope!”
